Taranto

Tour of the city of the two seas

Taranto is divided by the Great Sea and the Little Sea, old colony of the Magna Grecia, established by the Spartans. The city has a rich story thanks to the important archeological findings which can be found in the National ArchaeologicalMuseum.
The old part of the city is famous for the Saint Cataldo Cathedral, an Irish bishop who died in Taranto about the VI-VII century.
Instead the modern part of the city is famous for the Gran Madre di Dio Cathedral, designed by the architect Gio Ponti.
